Weighing Up The Problem B1014 - Limited Edition of 500 by Ray Ayres - Was £220.21 Weighing Up The Problem B1014 - Limited Edition of 500 by Ray Ayres - Was £220.21

B1014 Weighing Up The Problem - by Master Sculptor Ray Ayres
When this herd bull spotted some young heifers in the next field he obviously thought he would be stuck for choice-not stuck for good! However, his amorous intent has left him well and truly wedged and the only thing to do now is to 'weigh up' the best way to free him, whilst causing the least harm to all concerned!

What happened? Simple really - the tractor came down the hill too quickly and plunged into the ford, the big splash flooding the magnets! With a flat engine and no farm horse available, all the driver can do is enlist the help of a friend, and so, with shoes and socks left on dry ground, he turns the engine over while his helper pulls on a land winch. Slowly but surely, together they ease the machine onto dry ground. There's nothing for it now, but to remove the magnets and take them back to the farmhouse to be dried out in the oven.

Recycling, the old way! Up until the 1970s, the sound of the horses' hooves on the cobbles and the cries of 'rag 'n' bone' could be heard echoing out across the city neighbourhoods as the rag & bone man travelled around collecting metal scrap and old items of clothes and furniture.

Reversable Ploughing BO938 Limited Edition of 1500 by Ray Ayres - Was £386.60 Reversable Ploughing BO938 Limited Edition of 1500 by Ray Ayres - Was £386.60

The 1967/68 Standard Nuffield 4/64 Diesel Tractor was the last in the range of Nuffield tractors, as in 1969 it was rebranded as the Leyland 384 and its familiar poppy and white livery was swapped for a two-tone blue version. Seen here , pulling the Ransome's TSR-102 two-furrow reversable plough, it makes light work of preparing the ground after another year's successful harvest.

B0918 The 111a
44cm Long, 16cm High
The 111a, the last of the series of single-cylinder Field Marshalls to be produced (between 1952 and 1957) is depicted here pulling a cultivator through a field of recently harvested sugar beet - breaking up the soil, which will next be ploughed and prepaired for another crop. The pile of stones gathered from all over the field and piled up in a 'soft' hollow that cannot be used, is carefully avoided by the driver, whilst the very same stones are the perfect place for the Oyster Catcher to settle in and try to ignore the noisy putt putt putt of the tractor.
