The Trotter - Original Price £350 The Trotter - Original Price £350
BO836 The Trotter Limited Edition of 500
by Jacqueline Frances Harris-Brown
Height 26.5cm
The start of a trotting race is an exciting moment as the horses (usually eight) line up behind a starting vehicle.
The action begins as the trotters cross the start line and the guide vehicle accelerates away, allowing the horses to race. Already going at a smart trot, every muscle is taut, every sinew tightly stretched, as the horse extends its gait to its fullest trot. Finely poised, man and horse try to maintain this balance during the race, as the trotter reaches speeds of over 25mph, without breaking into a gallop.

Britain's greatest Naval hero, Vice Admiral Horatio Lord Nelson, is depicted here in a most enigmatic pose. 2005 is a monumental year in British maritime history, as it celebrates Nelson's most famous victory - The Battle of Trafalgar. The battle (which took place on 21st October 1805 in Trafalgar Bay, off southern Spain) is regarded as one of the most important naval battles in British history since the Spanish Armada, as it re-established Britain's supremacy at sea and freed the country from the long-held fear of invasion by Napoleon.

The pile of stones gathered from all over the field and piled up in a 'soft' hollow that cannot be used, is carefully avoided by the driver, whilst the very same stones are the perfect place for the Oyster Catcher to settle in and try to ignore the noisy putt putt putt of the tractor.
